This course develops skills in operating the keyboard, and achieving acceptable speed and accuracy levels. Keyboarding also provides for instruction in formatting of basic documents for both personal and business use as well as emphasize mastery of touch control of keyboard characters, correct key stroking, and proper manipulation of operative parts and care of the machine. Students will be instructed in the production of letters, manuscripts, tabulations, business communications, reports and themes, and composition at the keyboard. Skill development in proofreading, spelling, word division, punctuation, and correction techniques will also be included.

This course introduces law and the origins and necessity of the legal system, and provides insight into the evolution and development of laws that govern business in our society. Topics in this course include contractual responsibility, protection of individual rights in legal relationships relative to warranties, product liability, secured and unsecured debts, negotiable instruments, agencies, employer-employee relations, property ownership and transfer, landlord and tenant, wills and estates, community property, social security, and taxation.
