Transitional Calendar Option Description:
Research indicates that students in grades where they are transitioning into a new environment with new peers and teachers may experience anxiety. In an effort to address these educational concerns a transitional calendar option is a choice for the 2009-2010 calendar year. The students in transitional grades such as (PreK-K, 6th & 9th) would attend school one day earlier with a mini-version of a school day without the entire campus population being present. This is designed to ease the transition and anxiety associated with attending a new campus. For each calendar option a transitional day may be built in the last professional development day prior to the first class day for students.
