Texas A&M and Clear Creek ISD have been working together for the last 4 years creating opportunities for new teachers to have onsite experience. 

About the teachers:

  • Graduates from the Texas A&M College of Education with outstanding recommendations and high GPAs
  • Fully certified
  • Interviewed and recommended by Clear Creek ISD Human Resources

The A&M Teachers are closely monitored during their first year of teaching by a district mentor.  This mentor provides the following services:

  • Meets with teachers prior to the school year to help with classroom set up, curriculum review and professional development
  • Helps the teacher develop classroom management expectations and techniques
  • Observes and models instruction daily during the first 6 weeks of school
  • Monitors teachers weekly throughout the school year with classroom observations, email and phone communication and through weekly journal/reflection assignments
  • Formally observes teachers with Texas A&M observation assessment tool (CoPat) 4 times during the school year.  This includes pre-observation and post-observation meetings
  • Develops individual teacher coaching plans
  • Attends all parent orientations, open houses, and conferences
  • Critiques weekly lesson plans
  • Helps teacher disaggregate testing data
  • Helps the new teacher with issues such as TAKS, tutoring, parent communication, and modifications /adaptations for students with special needs
  • Covers the teacher’s class while he/she observe other teachers or while the teacher completes individual student assessments)
  • These new teachers will also have onsite mentors to answer campus specific questions
