Goals of CCISD ECHS:

Meet the needs of high school students desiring to:

  • earn college credit beyond that which is currently available through dual credit options;
  • work toward an Associate’s degree;
  • engage in service learning;
  • participate infield experiences through internships and externships; and
  • work in collaboration with instructional staff to accomplish individual learning goals identified in a Differentiated Learning Plan (DLP).

Give students opportunities to:

  • conduct purposeful research within a structured research methods course;
  • interact with professionals in the real-world work environment; and
  • understand the protocols and expectations of the professional and post-secondary settings.

 

 

All students in grades 8 – 11 living within Clear Creek ISD boundaries are eligible to apply for CCISD ECHS.

ExCEL ECHS applicants should be:
Highly-capable

  • Academic focus and commitment
  • Independent learner
  • Risk taker
  • May be identified GT

Behaviorally-mature

  • High attendance rate
  • Positive discipline record
  • Good time management

Students will be required to complete an on-line application course and confirm their desire to be considered for admission. In addition, students must the meet admissions requirements for San Jacinto College courses.

In response to this call to action, Clear Creek Independent School District, in partnership with our business, educational and scientific community, has come together to propose a new high school instructional model to serve the student who is motivated and capable of college-level coursework.

The purpose of this new high school instructional model is to meet the needs of highly-capable, at-risk, and/or gifted and talented learners. Many of these students will be first-generation college graduates.

Students will have educational opportunities to optimize student choice through advanced course work, community partnerships, field experiences, and service learning. Students will have opportunities for early graduation and coursework leading to an Associate’s degree.
