The Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) pulls together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. AEIS reports also provide information on school and district staff, finances, programs and student demographics. This information is put into the annual AEIS reports, which are available each year in the fall. Student performance measures include:

• State-administered assessment performance (TAKS); by grade, by subject, and by all grades tested;
• Participation in statewide assessment programs (TAKS, TAKS - Accommodated, TAKS-M, TAKS-Alt);
• Exit-level TAKS Cumulative Passing Rates; 
• Progress of Prior Year TAKS Failers;
• Results of Student Success Initiative;
• Attendance rate for the full year;
• Dropout rate (by year);
• Completion rates (4-year longitudinal);
• College Readiness Indicators:
  • Percent of high school students receiving credit for at least one advanced or dual enrollment course;
  • Percent of graduates completing the Recommended High School Program or Distinguished Achievement Program;
  • Participation and performance on Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations;
  • College-Ready graduates;
  • Texas Success Initiative - Higher Education Readiness Component; and
  • Participation and performance on college admissions tests (SAT, ACT).

Adequate Yearly Progress
Based on the accountability requirements in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, all public schools, school districts, and the state are evaluated for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Public school districts, campuses and the state are required to meet AYP criteria on three measures:

• Reading/Language Arts
• Mathematics
• Graduation Rate (high schools/districts) or Attendance Rate (elementary/intermediate schools)

Schools and districts receiving Title I, Part A funds that fail to meet AYP for two consecutive years are subject to certain requirements such as offering supplemental education services, offering school choice, and/or taking corrective actions.
