• What is the bell schedule for League City Intermediate?

• Will there be a bus system to transport area students to the LC Intermediate campus?

  Yes, there will be bus transportation. Bus transportation will be provided to students from their home-zone intermediate school. Pick-up and drop-off times mirror the elementary school schedule. Each campus pick-up time may vary. Actual times will be available before school begins in August. Transportation is not provided to students who are attending a school on an intra-district transfer. Parents will be required to provide transportation.

• Is the WAVE orientation at LCIS on April 12 only for current 5th graders or for all WAVE students who will be attending LCIS next year?

  Thursday April 19th is for 7th and 8th graders. See the calendar from more information.

  As of February 24, 2012, there are 172 incoming 7th grade WAVE students that will attend Westbrook Intermediate and 126 incoming 7th grade WAVE students that will attend League City Intermediate.

• What is WAVE’s current enrollment for incoming 6th Grade at both locations?

  
  As of February 23, 2012, 131 CCISD 5th grade students have registered to attend WAVE at League City Intermediate and 153 CCISD 5th grade students have registered to attend WAVE at Westbrook Intermediate. These numbers do not include students who enroll in CCISD from private schools, move to the area during the summer or will be tested this spring for gifted and talented. We are pleased with the enrollment at both locations.
  

• Will the current 6th graders, incoming 7th graders, for LCI WAVE have a camp like "Wolf Camp", so that they have an opportunity to tour the facilities and get used to the new school?

  
  Yes! League City Intermediate will schedule a Bobcat Camp for all students in August. Once the date has been determined, it will be placed on the website. It will be a great time for students.

• Will Spanish be offered at both locations?

  
  Spanish I Pre-AP and Spanish II Pre-AP will be offered at both locations.
  

• Will the current 6th grade WIS WAVE students living in Autumn Creek, Autumn Lakes and the Friendswood Oaks subdivisions and having siblings who attend Landolt Elementary, be allowed to stay at Westbrook for the 2012-13 school year and thereafter?

  
  

  Students residing in the Brookside Intermediate attendance zone and scheduled to attend WAVE League City Intermediate should complete the registration process at League City Intermediate. Following registration, parents in the Autumn Lakes neighborhood may apply for an intra-district transfer to attend WAVE at Westbrook Intermediate. Each request will be reviewed by district administration. This is in accordance with existing policy which allows parents to apply for an intra-district transfer for various reasons, including hardships with transportation. The deadline for intra-district transfers is April 15, 2012, according to policy. Parents may pick up the forms at their campus and should indicate that they live in Autumn Lakes. This applies for existing students and incoming 6th grade students.

   

  When developing the feeder patterns for both WAVE (Westbrook Intermediate) and WAVE (League City Intermediate), the District looked at high school feeder patterns. This was intended to create natural boundaries for the programs, and to increase the likelihood that WAVE students would attend high school together. Brookside Intermediate has an equal number of WAVE students who are zoned to Clear Brook High School and Clear Springs High School. Parents in the Autumn Lakes neighborhood have brought forward concerns regarding the distance between their homes and League City Intermediate, specifically in the area of extracurricular activities since the District does provide bus transportation to WAVE North (League City Intermediate) but not for extracurricular activities.  

   

  The District does not want distance to deter families from considering the WAVE program. We will review the number of requests from Autumn Lakes and enrollment at both locations as a means to determine whether an official adjustment needs to be made regarding the Brookside Intermediate feeder pattern for WAVE in the future. 

• Who will be the Director of Gifted and Talented/Advanced Academic?

• Westbrook Intermediate’s and League City Intermediate have different dress codes.

  
  

  League City Intermediate has changed its dress code to allow logos. Logos can be no larger than a quarter. Mrs. Brouillard and Dr. Broughton will work together to ensure the dress code at both campuses are the same. 6th grade students will need to purchase League City Intermediate (LCI) P.E. uniforms. 7th or 8th grade students may purchase LCI P.E. uniforms, or they may wear their P.E. uniforms from Westbrook Intermediate. Athletic classes build on the concept of team unity and team spirit. Students who are scheduled into the 7th or 8th grade Athletic classes will need to purchase League City Intermediate uniforms. Families who need assistance may contact Mrs. Brouillard or their child’s counselor.

   

• Will OMEGA be offered at League City Intermediate?

  
  The District recognizes the existing OMEGA program at League City Intermediate is very strong, and it is an attractive academic opportunity for the highly capable student. Based on parent feedback and committee recommendations, OMEGA will continue at League City Intermediate for the highly capable student in all grade levels. OMEGA will include interdisciplinary curriculum for Pre AP language arts and Pre AP social studies.

• Student Transfers/Grandfathering

  In accordance with policy, the District will permit incoming 8th grade students currently at Westbrook to remain at Westbrook for the 2012-2013 school year. Click here to view the policy.  This is the standard practice when the District changes attendance boundaries for intermediate schools. We believe the same approach applies for this programmatic change. If your child will be in 8th grade in 2012-2013 school year and currently attends WAVE at Westbrook, he or she may stay at the school. However, transportation will not be provided in accordance with policy for those who will be zoned to the second location.  NEXT STEP: If you choose to have your 8th grade WAVE student stay at Westbrook Intermediate, you must fill out an intra-district transfer request. This form is available at the campus. When filling out the form, please indicate your child will be an 8th Grade WAVE student and you would like him/her to finish out the school year at Westbrook.

  
  

  Is there any chance my request will be denied?

  • No if your child is an incoming 8th grade student in the WAVE program.

  
  

  What if I want my incoming 8th grade student to move to the new location and I am zoned to attend League City Intermediate based on the program's feeder schools?

  • That is great! One of the strengths of the program is the 6th-8th grade collaboration. If your child is an incoming 8th grade student and you reside in the intermediate schools that are now zoned to League City Intermediate, you do not need to take any action.

  I have an incoming 8th grade student and an incoming 7th grade student at Westbrook Intermediate. Can I request for both of them to stay at Westbrook Intermediate?

  • That will be determined on a case-by-case basis and we encourage parents of multiple siblings to talk with the campus administration about your family needs.

  
  

  What if I have a student that is zoned for WAVE at Westbrook and I want him to transfer to WAVE at League City Intermediate?

  • Please fill out a transfer request form. These forms are available at the campus. Your request will be reviewed by campus administration. If your request is approved, you will need to provide transportation.

• Will high school level courses be available at the new campus?

  
  Yes! Students at both locations will have access to high school level courses on their intermediate campus. For example if students in WAVE at League City Intermediate take Geometry, it will be offered at the campus just as it is as Westbrook Intermediate.  Essentially, the WAVE offerings at Westbrook Intermediate will be available to students in WAVE at League City Intermediate.  The only difference may be in the mini-course offerings in that these courses are based on student and teacher interests. However, the flagship mini-courses involving the video and music labs will be available at both locations!

• Will the bell schedules be the same at both schools?

  
  WAVE at League City Intermediate will operate as a school within a school just as WAVE at Westbrook Intermediate. The timing of the bell schedule may be different just as with any school. However students in both the WAVE program and League City Intermediate will absolutely have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities together just as they do at Westbrook Intermediate. Details of the master schedule for League City Intermediate are not completed. There will be changes to the bell schedule and extracurricular practice times at League City Intermediate and those changes will be communicated to all parents and students.

• How will students moving from Westbrook Intermediate to League City Intermediate audition for fine arts programs such as band?

  
  WAVE band students will audition for seventh and eighth grade performing band classes at Westbrook. They will audition through the current audition procedure(s) set forth by the band directors at Westbrook. The Westbrook and League City band directors will listen to those students transitioning to League City Intermediate and students will be placed into the appropriate level band classes. Audition results will be posted at both campuses. There is no audition required for incoming sixth grade students.
